Today we're meeting Kaylee (@kmckee) who is on her third surrogacy journey!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.
Hi, I'm Kaylee! I currently live in New Sharon, IA with my husband, Tyler, our 2 children Trinity and Jaxton, and our 3 fur baby great danes, Mato, Milie-June, and Meatball. We are always on the go with sports activities, dance and Hawkeye football!
What inspired you to become a surrogate?
My road to surrogacy started in 2013 when I completed her first egg donation for a French couple. Their struggle to find a surrogate, post retrieval, provided me with a new understanding of the need for surrogate mothers. I completed 5 egg donations between 2013-2016, before signing up to become a surrogate. I'm currently on my third surrogacy journey and have successfully birthed one healthy baby boy born in February 2019. I'm due again in August of 2022 with another boy!
What has been the most rewarding part of your surrogacy journey?
Courageous is not the word that comes to mind when I think of my experience as a donor and surrogate. I see this as my way of giving back, and doing my part to make the world a better place and provide others with the happiness that having a child brings. I find joy in the ability to give this experience to others. Many people ask me how can I "give away a baby", for me it is not that I am giving away a baby, I am giving a family their future!
How did becoming a surrogate change your life?
I have always felt that my purpose in this life was to give back and do my part to change the world. Being an egg donor was a small piece to a bigger picture, and becoming a surrogate opened the door to a bigger piece of the journey! I have referred many other like-minded women, and later became a Coordinator for donors and surrogates. ConceiveAbilities is where I have found I can truly let my personality and purpose shine through in my day to day work helping build families. After all, everyone deserves to find their Rainbow after the storm!
All our best wishes to you on your third surrogacy journey, Kaylee!
