Today we're spending some time with @brittanygalioto, who is starting her surrogacy journey.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.
Hi there, my name is Brittany, my husband is Steven, and we have been married since 2011. We are both originally from Washington. Right after we got married he left for the Airforce. When he graduated from basic we moved to Texas and lived there for 5 years. We then had orders to move to Little Rock Arkansas. Once we got there we welcomed our son Payton who is about to be 5 years old. After a year or so there, Steven deployed for 6 months overseas. After he came back we welcomed our daughter Emily in 2019. a couple of months later Steven deployed again for 6 months. Once he came back he ended up getting out of the military after10 years of service. We now live in Colorado where Steven works for a new company, and we have transitioned from military life. We are starting the process to build our forever home. Steven and I love to travel - we loved cruising the most, we love sports like hockey and football. Our family loves to be outdoors.
Tell us about your surrogacy story.
I am in the early stages of the surrogacy journey. I have met with the Intended Parents and I am very excited to help them build their family.
What inspired you to become a surrogate?
My uncle is the reason I wanted to be a surrogate. My uncle passed when I was 5 years old. He and his husband had gotten married - my memories of attending the wedding are from the photos that I have seen. As I got older I had asked my nana why they didn't have kids. I didn't understand why until I got older. Since then I have always wanted to be able to help a family.
How did you know it was the right time for your family to embark on your surrogacy journey?
My husband and I have decided we are done having kids of our own. We are more stable with being out of the military lifetsyle.
How did your partner, friends and family feel about your decision and how did they support you?
My husband is very supportive of my decision. He has been there for me through everything. My in-laws are very supportive of my choice. My in-laws support anything I need and are excited to follow my journey.
Tell us about matching with your Intended Parents.
The matching process was very nice. My husband and I had the video call and we were nervous since we didn't know what to expect - it almost reminded me of a blind date! But the match manager helped break the ice. We were all laughing and having a great conversation by the time the hour was up. They are an amazing couple.
How does it feel to be able to give the gift of family?
I feel very grateful to be able to give a gift to a family. The gift of life is such a beautiful thing and being able to give that gift to the family is priceless.
What has been the most rewarding part of your surrogate experience?
So far since I am still early in my journey, I am just excited to get the chance to be able to help a family.
Thanks for taking the time to let us get to know you, @brittanygalioto!
